Our Story

Welcome to Electric Garage, where your beloved Nissan Leaf gets a second life and an even longer range. Our story is rooted in years of hands-on experience with electric vehicles right here in New Zealand.

Since 2016, we've driven Nissan Leafs as our everyday cars, and over time, we wore out a few batteries and saw firsthand how frustrating it is to slowly lose range to the point it becomes unusable. But we always believed there was a way to give these cars a new lease on life.

As battery technology became more affordable and our expertise grew, thanks to a lot of trial, error, and collaboration with some of the best automotive and electronics engineers in New Zealand we created a solution. Along the way, we tried purchasing several Chinese made battery packs in hopes they would be a suitable fix, but none met the safety standards we needed for New Zealand roads. That experience taught us exactly what was needed and pushed us to design our own high-quality, New Zealand-compliant battery packs.

These new packs use robust prismatic cells that fit perfectly into the Leaf's original design, preserving safety and structure while giving you a battery that will last for years to come. In short, Electric Garage is about keeping your trusty Leaf on the road, better than new, for a fraction of the cost of buying a new EV.
